Seals - Casa Beach, La Jolla

Seals - Casa Beach, La Jolla

Children's Pool Beach, also known as Casa Beach, is a small sandy beach in La Jolla, California.

A sea wall built in 1931 protects the beach from crashing waves, making it a favorite spot for divers, swimmers and families with children. A community of harbor seals took up residence in 1992 and has continued to increase steadily ever since.

There is continued controversy as to whether this should be treated as a marine reserve or whether the seals should be removed for public health reasons.
